The final siren wasn’t our cue to go home
GOOEY returned to Naarm for AFL Grand Final weekend, taking over UBQ from 7am on Saturday 26 September for another early-morning gathering of the SIR kind.
With Lisa May, X& and MBVR on the bill, this edition picked up after BARBA at Brown Alley for those whose Friday night still had unfinished business.
Queer-run and unapologetically inclusive, SIR brings together the LGBTQIA+ community, allies and friends through techno and its delicious neighbours. GOOEY’s sex-positive afterparty format combined the dancefloor, bar and chillout areas with a separate, optional play space. Participation was never expected, and consent applied everywhere.
SHAMELESS, INTIMATE, and RESPECTED.
We acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Owners and true sovereigns of the land we gather on. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and future, and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
